One thing with Lucy is she tends to be high maintenance. With Doodles I think it depends if they lean more toward the Retriever or more toward the Poodle. Lucy seems to favor the Golden Retriever, as her hair lacks the tight curls of a Poodle. When her coat is fully grown in, Lucy needs to be brushed twice a day...that's why I love her summer haircut! Don't get me wrong...I'm not complaining and definately not trying to dissuade anyone from owning a Goldendoodle...bathing and grooming are part of the fun of having a wonderful pet.
Lucy gets professionaly trimmed a couple of times a year during the summer months, the rest is up to me. The first ti
me I gave her a bath, it was hard to tell which one of us was suppose to be the recipient. Lucy was soaked, I was soaked, and the bathroom was soaked!
me I gave her a bath, it was hard to tell which one of us was suppose to be the recipient. Lucy was soaked, I was soaked, and the bathroom was soaked! After a few more bath days, Lucy started to enjoy it and began to get in the tub by herself and I no longer needed to hang on to her for dear life in fear of her bolting in favor of dry land. The only catch to the whole experience...I have to sing! Yes...sing! and not just any song. During her shampoo and rinse I have to serenade her with the oldie Stay (Just a Little Bit Longer). I don't remember half of the words so I make them up adding Lucy's name frequently...
...the silly things our dogs talk us into!
More to come...

Tasha, my miniature Schnauzer, got a bath and a haircut this weekend. She was NOT amused. Unlike Lucy, she hates her bath time though she feels better when she is clean. Smells better also.
I have to keep the bathroom door shut as one time she decided that she was done and jumped out of the tub. We both were very wet that time.
