I would be willing to bet that I'm not the only person that has conversations with their dog, especially when no one else is around. Actually, Lucy is a great listener, she hangs on my every word and with just a change in pitch she becomes a wonderfully animated creature. Her tail becomes a windfarm at the mention of the word 'biscuit', and her exuberance when asked if she wants to go for a ride sends every rug in the house flying! It is my belief that a dog will respond to the amount of attention we give them, sort of like a child but without expense of a college education!
The other day, I was in the kitchen cutting up vegetables, Lucy was keeping vigil in the event of a wayward carrot and as I chopped I grumbled out loud about the price of food, the cost of gas, the economic condition in general. Lucy pricked her ears listening for a familiar word, when none came she ambled off toward the den, I continued to chop in silence.
Maybe she found that conversation a bit overwhelming!
More to come...

Your not the only one... I talk to my dogs as well. Addie is becoming a talker herself. When she talks it sounds like the engine of a car that just can't turn over. It's pretty cute. I love the picture of Lucy on the couch! Priceless!
Are you a member of the Dogs with Blogs website? If not you should check it out.
Stop over sometime. I have a costume contest going on that Lucy could participate in if she wanted to.
Have a wonderful day!
