Lilly is the oldest of our two cats, and is the self proclaimed Princess in Residence. Truth be known, Lilly is a bit of a crab! She will love you to a point but when she's had enough...that's it!
On the other hand Molly is Miss Congeniality, she loves everyone and would probably hold the flashlight for a burglar! Both cats had been around our family's dogs and Lucy lived with two cats prior to her arrival, so neither Ron nor I were overly concerned about the initial cats and dog meeting, however, we knew Lilly was not going to be jumping for joy!
Sitting in the living room, we kept Lucy on a leash and waited for the cats to show up. Apparently Molly thought we must have brought her her very own dog because within 10 minutes she and Lucy were true blue buddies! On the other hand, Lilly wanted no part of the situation. Meandering the outskirts of the living room and checking out the intruder from a safe distance, she zipped up the stairs and straight to her 'I hate all dogs zone'...the bathtub!
Lucy seemed very much at home, Molly was ecstatic and poor Lilly was probably praying that that dumb dog would be going home soon. Much to her chagrin, morning came and the beast was still there!
Over the course of the next few days, Lilly finally reached the conclusion that Molly was still alive and therefore, maybe, just maybe things weren't as bad as she first thought. Slowly Lilly came to tolerate Lucy, in the meantime Molly was having a grand time checking out her new found friend!
My! What big teeth you have!

As normalcy (ha!) returned to our household, there was no doubt in my mind that Lucy was the best thing that had happened in a while.
More to come...
